Mike,

You're right, the z values in that example are just place-holders. When 2-D is specified all z-positions are compressed to the z=0 plane anyway.

Alex,

Thanks a lot for sharing the code.
The simulation is in 2D. When you define the volume and PML layers, the values for z-direction are also given. Are these values randomly assigned?

Mike

Subject: [Meep-discuss] Launching a particular mode

Dear all,

I have found in my simulations that if I launch light into a waveguide (2-d), initially it excites lots of modes and after some distance only one mode sustains. But I need to take a long waveguide for that and it takes a lot of computational time. Is there a way to excite a particular mode instead of launching a light source in meep?

Thanking You.

Subject: [Meep-discuss] Phase Vs Wavelength plot

Dear all,

I am trying simulating a disk resonator placed next to a wave guide. I have got the transmission spectrum following the examples. I want to obtain the phase Vs wavelength plot also. By launching a gaussian pulse we can get the transmission spectrum. Can any one suggest a way to obtain the phase vs wavelength also along with the transmission spectrum at the same flux plane?

Thanking You.
