Dear all:
I want to check the DOS of a simple square lattice consisting of a
dielectric cylinder in air using a FDTD method. The calculation procedure is
as follows.
1)initialize the Ez/Hz with a superposition of Bloch wave,
2)record the time evolution of field by FDTD at random sampled points.
3)Fourier transform the time depedence of field to obtain the spectral
intensity.
4)sum the spectral intensity over differenct k point in first BZ and
different sampling points.

For TM(EZ) mode, this method works very well, DOS obtained by this
method agrees well with one by sovling its band structure.

But for TE(HZ) mode, it behaves very strange. At frequcency near zero,
the value of DOS is very large, while apart from zero, it is very small.

Does anyone else encount the similar problem, Can anyone give some idea
what is the problem here for TE(Hz) mode.

Best Regards!
Tianrong Zhan
