Hi Giovanni,
thanks a lot for your reply. When I use h5topng to make the results visible I see the waves propagating as expected for source and output Ez, but don't see any waves for source and output Ex or Ey. I don't really understand that, since I didn't change anything, except the direction of the field.
Any ideas on that?
Thanks a lot!
Stefan

I am still looking for a solution for my second problem. Do you think it
has something to do with the fact that I am simulating in 2D or should
it work anyways? Have you ever done any 2D simulations with electric
field in x or y direction?
Unfortunately I don't even know what else I could test, I mean, the code
works with Ez, so the problem can't be in the code except for the fact
that it's 2D. But I saw an example, where Ey worked in 2D:

So I have really no idea what my mistake could be.
Do you maybe have any further ideas?
Thanks a lot!
Stefan

Hi Stefan,
I have been able to do 2D simulations with fields in the simulation plane,
and besides in principle that cannot be a problem. What is exactly that
happens if you run your code?
