Hi MEEPers,

What is the best approach for building complicated 3D models for MEEP?

The MEEP paper "MEEP : A flexible free-software package for electromagnetic
simulations by the FDTD method"
http://math.mit.edu/~stevenj/papers/OskooiRo10.pdf says:
"...if we wanted to use a CAD program, we would use a professional-quality one,
export the design to a standard interchange format, and write a conversion
program to turn this format into what Meep expects"

Has anyone attempted this? Is there a recommendation for an open-source
professional-quality 3D CAD? Which standard interchange format would be best?

I am new to MEEP and LINUX and for now it's a matter of deciding what software
"architecture" around it would be best to use, both for model building and
later for data analysis.
Any pointers would be appreciated.

Best Regards,
Cristian
