Dear all,

My meep version is 1.1.1. When the geometry is defined by using:

      (set! default-material (make material-function (material-func
mater-fuc)))

it seems that it is impossible to turn off subpixel-averaging by using:

      (set! eps-averaging? false)

The simulation blows up, and I believe it is due to the subpixel-averaging,
since the same CTL file works well when the geometry is define by
pre-defined objects (no averaging performed). No negative index materials
in the simulation (just dispersive material e.g. silicon).

I searched through the archive of meep-discuss, and actually some one
reported the same issue in 2009 but no solution:

Thanks.

Sincerely,
Klaus
