Your questions is unclear to me. What do you mean by the "slices"?  What do you 
mean by "render"?  (Rendering usually means plotting/visualization, but Meep 
itself contains no plotting software.)

If you have a 2d calculation and are wondering what a 3d object means in that 
context, Meep uses the intersection of the object with the z=0 (xy) plane in 
that case; I think this is described in the manual somewhere.
