Dear meep users
I calculate total energy in a particular region, where there are plasmonic
structures excited by a gaussian source, by using field_energy-in-box.
According to my energy vs time graph, the total energy oscillates in time
in every case, I mean in casd there are structures or not. How can this be
physically true? When the computational cell is filled with a box of
epsilon = 1, and there is only a point gaussian source, the total energy
calculated by field-energy-in-box displays an oscillatory time evolution,
rises towards the central frequency of the gaussian and then decreases, but
oscillating at the same time. It is the total energy, so I guess one could
not consider the transformation of energy forms.
Thanks in advance.
Bilge.
