As explained in the manual, output-tot-pwr actually outputs the energy density; 
it is somewhat confusingly named for historical reasons.

If you want the Poynting vector, you can use output-sfield-x, output-sfield-y, 
and output-sfield-z to output the different components of the Poynting vector, 
which give the instantaneous rate of energy flux (power per unit area) in 
different directions, at every point in a structure.
