Coaching is pretty fun, and it's how I got into OpenTechSchool Berlin. It's more about projecting a positive attitude to learning, programming and open source. Everyone I've coached at a workshop have had the smarts for casual programming. For many it's the difference between getting over that initial learning curve and giving up. Many people are come to the workshops to accomplish something, like multimedia, scientific computing or gaming, and having a real life person to tell them what pygame or numpy is can prevent so much heartache.
If you are interested but have questions then feel free email me [email protected], or I'll be at the PUG meetups as well. Cheers, -- Steven
