Not quite sure. I have file.c (SVN rev 1000) and patch file.c.patch (SVN diff between rev 1200 and 1201). I would like to open file.c in one pane, file.c.patch in second pane and modify file.c.patch inside meld so that it applies cleanly to file.c (rev 1000). That's the way you backport patches.
PS: This feature could be used in another direction - when you need to adapt your older obsolete patch to work with new version.
