You're not the only one who wants this; Peter Tyser made a similar comment a while back (see http://mail.gnome.org/archives/meld-list/2010-March/msg00021.html and follow-up) and I agree that something along these lines would be nice. Could you please file a bug so that the request doesn't get lost?
