Consider a career in public service.  The City Auditor's Office is
recruiting for an Auditor I.  This is the entry level professional position
in government auditing with the city.  The City Auditor's Office provides
oversight of city operations; our mission is to be a catalyst for improving
city government.  The City Auditor reports the results of audits and other
investigations and reviews to the City Council, the City Manager, and
Berkeley residents.  By Charter, the City Auditor is an independent agency
within city government.  
The Job
The Auditor I reviews contracts and payments for compliance with legal
requirements and City policy, audits businesses operating in the City for
compliance with business license tax ordinances, and assists journey level
auditors with complex performance audits of departmental operations.

Qualifications
The position requires the equivalent of graduation from an accredited four
year college or university with a minimum of 24 semester units in
accounting, auditing, financial analysis, or similar course work.  Knowledge
of accounting practices and procedures, and a foundation in business and
contract law are required.  The ability to use desk top computers (Word and
Excel) to prepare reports and analyses is desirable.  For a complete
