I am interested in hearing from any jurisdictions who pay all or part
of retiree medical. The City of Tracy does not currently provide this
other than paying such costs from a "bank", the amount of which is
determined by how many unused sick leave hours an employee has on the
books upon retirement. Thus, I am interested in jurisdictions who
simply pay retirement medical independent of any such bank (but if
this is also your system let me know that anyway). Here are some
questions:
* Do you pay all or part of the monthly costs? Cap on the monthly
amount etc.
* Is the amount you pay determined by years of service to your
organization or some other similar criteria?
* How do you fund these costs?
* How do you account for the future payments (i.e. general long term
account group, etc.)
* Any other advise, comment, or information you feel might be helpful
(i.e. just exactly how expensive is this benefit?)
I don't need exact information, just general ball-park information.
