Hello everyone,
A recently departed employee has demanded that we issue them a W2 for
the current year 2000. They cited that it was the law to do so within 30
days from departure. I could not find this law in the IRC code where I
went to look.
I am aware that they need to be mailed out by 1/31 following the
calendar year, but have not heard of a requirement to issue them on
demand.
If someone has dealt with a similar situation or is familiar with which
IRC code section would govern this, your help would be much appreciated.
