We have received a
few letters from companies which claim to be able to find unclaimed
money due our city.
We are aware of the
State of California Controllers Office and their unclaimed funds site, as well as the page with the County of
Orange.
But, has anyone
used the service of a private company to locate unclaimed
funds?
If so, provide a
name of the company.
What was your
general feeling on the service?
Is this money that
you would have never found through your own internal audit?
Also, what was the
percentage fee?
Did you go out to
an RFP? If so, can you provide a sample?
Can you provide a
copy of the contract that was approved?
Is there any other
method that you have used to locate unclaimed money?
