You are so right - it has been significantly altered and has now been moved beyond the
confines of Los Angeles. The bill now has broad definitions of employees exempt from
business taxes .

The League continues to oppose this bill - please send letters of opposition. The
bill is next set to go to Senate Rev & Tax either June 7 or 21.

We've been actively opposing AB83 due to the financial impact it would have
on our business license revenues. Apparently this bill was significantly
amended on May 25, 2000 - and now we're not sure what it is saying. Can
anyone provide a heads up - and whether it will continue to impact cities?
Thanks! I'll share what I find out.
