CONTROLLER THE CLIENT Operation HOPE, Inc. (OH, Inc.) is a nonprofit, public benefit organization, founded immediately following the civil unrest of April 29, 1992, in Los Angeles. OH, Inc. is America's first nonprofit investment banking organization, and one of the nation's leading providers of economic education for the under-served. OH, Inc. is an effective facilitator, advocate and educator for and on behalf of the other America. Through a series of public/private partnerships and strategic alliances, OH, Inc. has developed and implemented programs focused on connecting the minority community with mainstream, private sector resources, and empowering under-served communities. THE POSITION The Controller reports to the President/CEO and is responsible for a broad range of finance, accounting and reporting functions, including internal financial reporting, cashflow analyses, accounts receivables, accounts payable and generally supporting the operation from an accounting and budgeting perspective. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to: � Directing all accounting activities. Has principal responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the Company's accounting records and systems. Develops and maintains accounting policies and procedures; � Managing the preparation of all reports filed with external agencies or governmental bodies. This is likely to require hands-on preparation of journal entries, analyses and various accounting schedules; � Generating periodic financial reports including cash flow reports, projections, statements of condition and income and expense reports. � Advising the President/CEO and senior staff on relevant financial matters pertaining to the company; � Directing cash management including preparing cashflow and other financial projections as necessary; � Preparing the annual budget for operations and capital expenditures for approval by the Board of Directors. Includes preparing and reporting variances to budget on a periodic basis; � Participating in year-end external audit by providing supporting schedules and other information to the external auditors; � Safeguarding Company assets including the development of cost effective internal accounting controls, proper reconciliation of all general ledger accounts, maintaining adequate physical controls of check stock, and providing co-signatures for disbursements as required by the Company's existing policies; THE CANDIDATE The Controller, working with the President/CEO, will maintain the records for all financial information of the Company and will be called upon to provide leadership in all major financial matters. The successful candidate for this position will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and have a minimum of five to seven years of professional experience as a Controller or other senior financial officer. Strong skills in financial management, cashflow modeling and accounting are required. Experience with nonprofit organizations is highly beneficial but not required.
