Hello Members:
As promised and anounced soon after being elected as the new EC of the association, we
have accompilshed two of the three major mile stones in an effort to make our
association a more effective and visible organization in the triangle area. We
announce our program in Payamber (Jan 2002 Issue www.ncpaa.org/payamber) to achive a
greater recognition of Pakistani community in this area. Our 2 out of 3 major long
term goals were:
1: Increase positive image of Pakistan and Association in the local community through
media access and volunteer participation in educational and local city affairs.
To this end our dedicated volunteers have developed a great COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT TEAM
(CIT). This team has developed some solid programs to bring up the visibility of our
community in this area. under the leadership of Hassan Safvi. This team is now
ACTIIVELY participating in:
- Meal on the Wheel program which delivers lunch to needy people on Fridays
- Arranging a EID DINNER for Homeless people on SUNDAY Jan 12, 2003 at 4:30pm at
Raleigh Homeless Shelter. You must have received an e-mail on this subject already.
Please participate in this program by volunteering and donating money.
We, the Executive Commitee thank all the members of CIT to initiate such a great task
that we hope the coming ECs would continue. The team members are:
Hassan Safvi 919-968-3216
Hassan Imam 919-469-IMAM
Ahsen Salim 919-319-6345
Mujahid Hussain 919-846-0811
Amjad Pasha 919-380-1825
Amer Malik 919-465-4488
THANK YOU VERY MUCH to all these volunteers (and to their families for their patience
and understanding).
2: The second goal was to Introduce Ramadan and Eid holidays concepts to Wake County
School Systems on the same scale as that of Hanukkah and Christmas etc.
To this end, again the CIT team, and other volunteers, have developed a kit to be
presented in Elementary Classes. This consists of a letter to Principal and to YOUR
kid's Teacher, a FACT SHEET, and an ACTIVITY BOOK for YOUR kid's class students. This
kit will be presented in our Iftar Party by Hassan Imam for your consideration. This
kit will also be made available on our web site.
PLEASE, PLEASE, make a committment to present this kit to your kid's school. The
letters need to be customized by adding Principal, teacher names and arangements
should be made thru the teacher/principal to present this kit to your kid's class. We
are looking for at ;east 25 volunteers parents to present this kit during this holiday
season.
We have other long term goals, that I hope would be continued by other ECs to come.
Regards
Nadeem Iqbal, President
On behalf of Executive Committee
