The dinner for homeless, second for this year, was prepared and served to about 210 people at Raleigh Homeless Shelter on Sunday, March 14th. This dinner was hosted in remembrance of Dr. Abassi�s mother who passed away last month. We pray for his mother to rest in peace and Allah accept this gesture of goodwill on her behalf. The sponsors and volunteers for this dinner were Dr. Abassi�s colleagues at FHI, notably, Tita Oronoz and her daughters Delores (15) and Sofia (13), Dr. Ahmed Abdella, Dr. Chander Shekhar, Dr. Nuru Nikuntu and Amer Malik. We are grateful to the volunteers for putting together this dinner simply to honor a Pakistani cultural tradition and helping needy in the process. I would like to take this opportunity to recognize 4 other teen age volunteers who came in via Shaw Mosque�s channel and assisted with cooking and serving.
