Hi all, Many of you may be familiar with the annual International Festival of Raleigh. Our community participates every year under the "Pakistani" ethnic group and we have never failed to put on a superb performance, with the help of many volunteers and friends who give their time and effort to make it a success. It is a great opportunity to present our culture to over ten to fifteen THOUSAND people who visit the festival every year.
The festival is scheduled for November 5/6/7 (Fri/Sat/Sun) at the Raleigh State Fairgrounds. Details at http://www.internationalfestival.org/ This year we are participating again, and we need volunteers for the following activities: a) BAZAAR: we need vendors! if you have any items to sell like ladies, men's or children's apparel, costume jewelry, crafts or knick knacks of Pakistani origin, please contact me asap!!! The more the better. We also need sales people to man the bazaar on all three days. Two hour shifts per person. b) MEHNDI: This is a very popular attraction and we need lot's of people here all three days. Please volunteer even if all you can do is simple designs. Nothing complicated is required, just 5-10 minute designs. Most of the people wanting to get the Mehndi will be young American girls and women, and just a small Mehndi sample will work great. We will provide all the designs and materials. Shifts of 2 or more hours per person. c) CULTURAL EXHIBIT: We will be presenting a cultural exhibit depicting the annual festival theme, which is "Arts Around The World". So anything to do with Pakistani art, paintings, sculptures, calligraphy, crafts etc. can be shown in the Exhibit. If you have items to exhibit (not for sale) please contact me! And we will need help to build the exhibit on Wednesday and Thursday (Nov 3rd and 4th) in the evening after Iftari.
