My friend in Perth has built numerous FJ's into 1600's including his own.

I am unsure about the placement of the motor as we have always used the
original mounts.

However if my memory serves me correctly he circumvented the issue of fan,
radiator by undertaking the following.

The FJ water pump and pulley are replaced with a 240K items bearing in mind
that the 240K single groove water pump pulley is the square item as opposed
to the tapered version, this enables the belt groove to line up with the
crank pulley. Slight die grinding to the hub of the fan is also required.

Finally the front belt groove off the FJ balancer is to be machined off.

We still run the standard (serviced) radiator although we did need to modify
the bumper and centre support to fit a very large intercooler which amounted
to 340hp at the rear wheels.

We have not had the need to fit thermo fans as we find the above mods have
been more than able to cope.

Hope this is of some help.

Jim
