well I'm pissed off now! After returning the discs/pads I ordered, I again
got the wrong ones!
History: Need new rotors, so decide to get pads and rotors for my car. I
have a 200B front strut/brake setup of some year/combination.
Problem: I initially ordered DBA315 rotors and DB1027 pads but when I
fitted them the offset seemed a long way out and the calipers would not bolt
back onto the strut (because the offset was out). I noticed the caliper had
'Girlock' written on it and assumed that they must be the Girlock brakes!
So I sent them back to get the DBA326 and DB1091 Girlock setup from the
79-81 Local 200B. OK so now the disc fits a lot better, offset looks a bit
more correct. Then I go to fit the pads - woops they are a completely different
shape. I notice the old pads are DB1027, meaning the calipers must be from the
77-79 200B. I then decide to measure the diameter of the disc - 253mm,
meaning that the brakes must be the 77-79 200B setup!!
So why the hell didn't the original ones fit in the first place? Do I
have a girlock model strut and early model brakes?
My question now is, can I use these pads/rotors in my current setup
somehow, with the girlock or some other caliper and the 1091 pads for example? I
am reluctant to return these AGAIN! The 1091 pads also seem to have a much
bigger surface area.
Thanks!
