The ball park price range in the Eastern States (In SA i think about the same $? ; If you're in WA then sorry i haven't got clue what they cost there) for a FJ20t from an importer with a 90 day warranty is: A unit with 80,000 - 100,000 km is about in the middle of the price ranges, add about $200 to the complete unit price for the intercooled engine & computer sourced from the Skyline DR30-RS (~$2800 on average). At the bottom of the range you're going to get a fairly ordinary example that has bits missing or is obviously very second hand and maybe not any warranty. Engine $1500 - $1900
Bought as a complete unit $2200 - $3000 Fitting Kit (no exchange) $900 -$1000
I'd say for $5500 you're buying a very exy microtech. I posted an article to this list a little while back that listed a fairly detailed breakdown of the conversion costs from a stock 1600 to a street legal engineered FJ20DET (the SR20DET is about the same other than more $$$ for the engine) and i can dig it up for you if you missed it. Those of us who have done this conversion agreed the post was a fairly accurate reflection of the outlays to get a legal FJ or SR Turbo up and running. $800 for the labour component is fairly reasonable imo if you don't have the knowledge or the equipment and of course the time to do it yourself.
