Has anyone modified a PBR master cylinder to give adjustable
brake bias?
The M/C I am talking about has a single large reservoir and
two outlets, one labelled "f" the other labelled "r" - for front and rear
brakes. It is fitted to the Bluebird and the 200B - that I know of.
There is a screw-in plug and spring at the end of the outlet
cylinder. Adjusting the preload on the spring would change the maximum
pressure limit at the rear brakes. The preload could be adjusted by making up a
replacement plug with an O-ring and square-section cable for an in-dash
adjustment knob.
However you would not want it to leak - having no brakes can
hurt!
An alternative would be to remove the proportioning valve, or
render it non-functional, and install a cabin adjustable limiting valve in
the rear brake line.
Can it be done / Has it been done?
Thanks - Nick
