Title: RE: Electronic Ignitions

Diarmuid,

Very easy.  Get the distributor and matching coil from the Series II Bluebird. It bolts straight in but you will need to use shorter bolts as the original ones bottom out.  The drive spindle and everything lines up.  Put it in and wire up to the coil.  Sit back and enjoy the melody.

I paid $160 for mine with a 30 day warranty from an auto elec but you could probably do a bit better direct from a wrecker.

Regards

Subject:        Electronic Ignitions

Having changed points twice in the last week (and being stranded because of
it) along with the condensor twice (got the correct one in now) and
generally lots of mucking about to make sure everything is all set up right
and running I'm starting to see why relocating a series 2 Bluebird
Electronic Ignition is a reasonable popular mod among the 1600 crowd.
What exactly is needed for the conversion?  What should I pay if I find
this gear at a wreckers/(new?).  Will it fit my L18 or is it L20 specific.
How mechanically challenging is the installation.  Thanks in advance,
        D.
