You need to drain the engine oil, water, and remove
the engine from the car, turn it over, undo the sump and flywheel. Loosen
the main bearing caps and slip the rear seal out off the crank.
Reverse the proceedure to reassemble and make
sure you torque the main bearing cap bolts and the flywheel bolts to their
correct tension.
If you are going this far, I would slip in a
new set of big end bearings and main (crankshaft) bearings while you are in
there, they are not that much extra (around $80) if you are doing the
rest of the work yourself.
