Chris,
I guarantee that the C210 R180 diff is as simple as remove the
R160 and bolt in the R180 as long as long as the x-member or diff
mounts etc. haven't been butchered by a PO in any way. You use the
original 510 diff to x-member bolts and shims as the C210 bolts
are longer, the R180 tailshaft flange is compatible with a 510
tailshaft and so are the uni flanges that bolt on to the 510
axles. The C210 moustache bar looks a bit different than the 510
but either will fit without mods. A bonus is the 3.9 ratio is
sweet in a 510 with 5 speed and 195/60x14 tyres.
I haven't got the numbers of a S2 coil with me but I prolly can
get them tomorrow. Any coil of a car that has the same electronic
system as the Bluebird (e.g. Nippondenso of a Toy) are good and
will work fine. The problem with just throwing any coil on is it
has to be compatible with the ignitor pack and most older type
coils designed to be used with points are not. I find that some
wreckers are only interested in selling you a coil, they couldn't
give a toss if it's going to give you the performance that your
after so it pays to always be patient to know and find exactly
what you need.
IMHO the Datspeed rear disc conversion is a beauty, but at ~$1300
new makes it a bit exy compared to the R31 conversion which is a
bit of mucking about. The performance of both is very similar, the
rotors that Datspeed use with the drum handbrake are actually
copied off or are off a Toyota and are good grabbers. The use of
the original 510 handbrake cables is brilliant as well, but for an
extra $800 or so I didn't rate the conversion as economical
especially when added on to a turbo conversion.
regards
