What is real interesting is that a well sorted VL Conformodore Turbo will beat 'em.  Therefore the Nissan is faster.  Handling is a different issue of course.

I just looked up a head to head write up; the Sti 22B is quicker in a
straight line over 400m than the EVO6 but the EVO is a better handling car
on dirt and in top speed. A well sorted FJ20t is about as quick as a stock
WRX over the 400m (13-14 sec) but the 510 doesn't get near the WRX in twisty
stuff, especially in the wet, I've been in a quick Club Spec in the wet and
it's grip would amaze you. 4WD is just way too good for our 2WD. I'd say the
car you saw was a body kit special anyway as there are only one or 2 EVO6's
street regd as they are not complianced in Australia. The kits look like the
real thing and for the cost they'd want to.

How quick are these EVO's "supposed" to be anyway? It certainly wouldnt take
much
in the way of any sort of turboed 510 to be keeping pace with an EVO!
