Stumpy (DR30) conversion AND long 240K both require rear gear box
mount to be modified
(it is simple if you have a welder and an angle grinder with cut
off disc) refer to a much earlier post (archives???)on how to
modify your own by Richard Clough ...Richard??....
As you are in Melb, Chris at 1600 Workshop can help with this
'off the shelf' at less than your $100 or try
Phillip Pilvin 03 5448 8345 (Bendigo) as he makes them.
Back to the stumpy (DR30). It is a straight bolt up with modified
Xmember.
Dead easy with no other requirements though considerably more
expensive than the 240 option.
We have swapped the original speedo drive gear into the DR box
(not got a cable yet) and should be sweet.
BUT note that this box has the shifter come up in the original
hole (510) but at the VERY very front of the hole. We have yet to
resolve the issue of the gearlever boot due to the clearance or
lack of it. Others may already have the solution, we will
probably use the original rubber boot slightly modified (read
torn to fit) and a vinyl gaiter to match the trim on top. Some may
find the lever a bit of a reach. The long box requires an
'adjustment of the hole with the tin snips but others will have
experience on this and tailshaft etc to advise...
hth
