Matt,
That's something I'm not absolutely sure about as Nissan did different
things in so many countries, like in NZ they imported from Japan whereas in
Australia they had 2 bob each way. The local Australian (and State
legislation in the 70's & 80's (Govt type) had a lot to do with this,
Australia was very regulated where as from what I read and have been told NZ
and most of Asia just let market forces do it's stuff. They could have been
only assembled in the US but I'd suggest you pop the question on the
bluebirds list for the correct answer. Michael Spreadbury for one is a sob
on that list that's into the hysterical past of the Nissan Motor Co. in the
USA.

Were our beloved "Datto 1600s" actually made here in the US? I thought
Japanese car factories in the States were part of the later retribution for
taking so large a share of the market.
