g day list this is concerning the 710 that was being asked about the other day, while 
flicking through the book - Evan Green's world of motorsport (circa 1977) i found a 
double page spread on the 710 i will scan pics etc asap - this is what it said 
(abbreviations have been used)
:- The datsun 710 a model not sold in Australia, has been the Jap factory's main rally 
:machine 4 a no. of yrs, replacing the larger 240 and 260z coup�s. In body size the 
:710 is slightly smaller than the familiar 180B, but still is a substansial car, 
:weighing 1100kg
2 engines r used, sohc unit of 1.889litres and a dohc eng of 1.941lts. Both run a 
10.5:1 compression ratios. The single ohc unit develops a max 170bhp @ 6800rpm while 
the dohc produces 200hp @ 7200rpm. The less powerful engine has a more even torque 
band, and is more reliable, but it lacks the ultimate speed of the bigger motor. In 
rally trim the twin cam can reach 180km/h and the single 170km/h. The suspension is 
independant front and rear, with struts @ the front and coils @ the rear. Dunlop disc 
brakes are used. A car well suited to rough going, the 710 has a clearance of 180mm 
(7inch) @ the differential
