The thread length into the tie rod ends must be greater than 1.5 times the
thread diameter "at each end" and adjusted equally from fully bottomed in
each joint. Do not run less than this amount!!!!!!!!!! Look at other tie
rods in the Nissan range and you may find ones from a 240k or other Nissan
are the correct or useable length.
If you need longer rods they should be made in one piece from 4340 grade
steel ( made by Bohler or equivalent manufacturer). Do not weld inserts and
sleeve as I have seen some people do!
Cheers

Subject: Adj Lower Control Arms
Date: Friday, July 07, 2000 12:28

I have just fitted a set of adj lower control arms to my 180b sss and I'm
worried about the amount of thread on the Side Rods going into the tie rod
ends. (or the less of it) Does anyone no how to overcome this eg.. where I
can purchase longer Side Rods or if there is someone who could lengthen
mine. I live near Melbourne, Thanks
