Hi all,
There are 2 solutions to z18 ignition problems if using an after market
computer.
the first : 87 pathfinder.
I currently using a 87 pathfinder dissy (z24), I just swaped the vacumm
module from the z18 dissy and bolted it in. This dissy was electronic but
only had four wires out, ie no knock sensor, which is not a problem because
I am using not using the factory computer.
if you go this way ensure you get the dissy complete, its electronic ( the
guts should be similar ( 4 wires instead of 5) as the z18. the benifit is
you can by a dissy cap at you local spares shop and a rotor button from
nissan. ( ps the dissy complete is about $900 from nissan 2 years ago and
the ignition module was $915, where my dissy was $150 complete)

the second.
The series III Bbird/ca20 dissy has the same ignition module as my z24
dissy. and it is possible to fit this into z18 dissy I had a spare at one
point and bolted it into my old z18 dissy. (again no knock sensor). It is
not possible to fit the bbird dissy whole because it has a different base
and I am almost certain it won't bolt up. again when buying this make sure
the guts are simmilar to the z18.
