You can shorten the cables by folding back and using small cable clamps or have the ends redone by a rigging company.  They make slings and other cable lifting gear. Quite cheap to have done, probably $10 per end.

hi all, just wondering that the go is with shortening hand brake cables, ie can i do it myself by cutting and welding, or should i get someone to do it. if thats the case does anyone know of a place in syd. that will do it?
