I would stick with the manufacturers specs, changing the size of the
enclosure can do all sorts or things to your bass output. Put it to you this
way, downsizing the enclosures can also cause the bass to sound less punchy
for some reason.  That's why I would stay with the manufacturers specs.
Punchy bass is the best I reckon, it offers better transient response.
