Andy,
It can be fixed and would normally cost around $250 for first & second
synchro replacement.

Dear list,
I pulled out my old 5 speed to replace it with my new 280ZX 5 speed and was
very surprised to find they were exactly the same. Bonus for me because my
crossmember and shortened tailshaft fit without mods. Did the 280ZX's have
the same boxes as any other nissans? Or do I have two 280ZX boxs? I was
replacing the box because the syncros in first and second are starting to
crunch on downchanges. Can this be fixed? I heard it was cheaper to buy
another second hand box. (So I did.) Thanks again.
