If you adjust the choke when the engine is cold so that it is just closed,
but then run the engine for 5 minutes it will open up. I think on those
carbys, the choke can be adjusted the wrong way if you don't know what your
doing, so that it is closed shut when cold, and still closed shut when
hot...

When you undo the 3 screws on the choke, watch which way the little black
cup thing turns on the spring, then keep turning it in that direction and
there will be a little arrow marker that lines up with about 3 or 5 lines...
It should sit somewhere in there.

When this is done, it should be shut when cold, and when warm it will open
up the butterflys..

After this, adjust the mixture screw. On a L20 std carby, they like to sit
about 2.5 to 3 full turns back from totally screwd in position. Then set
your idle to 900 - 1100 rpm and it should rev quite happily!!! :)
