Are you intreseted in an import? I think they aussie 4cyl market is now all FWD cars, epecially what you are looking at. I am assuming a VR might go for around $10k? Silvia S13 SR20 (90-92) no turbo should be less than $10k, and you might get a turbo for less than $12k or maybe less,havn't looked at them for ages.  Problem is they are pretty basic inside, maybe not as nice as the VR.. seats aren't that good. It depends how old do you wanna go?  AE86 sprinter would give you maybe 5k to give it a good engine, rwd good drift car :) Maybe a R31 skyline?  buy a silhouette and spend a little on exhaust and engine mgmt system?  these are pretty fuel efficient.. maybe get a cheaper one and put a RB20 in it? still a turbo will cost to insure and guzzle much on boost.
