Does anyone have a good understanding of how this mass of plastic hoses and
stuff works?
I had problems with fuel running out the breather pipe next to the filler
cap.. Bit exxy with the price of fuel these days..My breather system was
just sitting on top of the tank.. I tried plugging the end of the breather
and it stopped the fuel running all over the side of the car and the road
but the filler pipe just collapsed from the vacuum.. Didn't seem to worry
the fuel pumps delivering enough fuel to the webers..While I was fiddling
around with it I lifted the whole shebang up towards the parcel shelf and
heard the 'whoosh' of air escaping.. There are clips under the parcel shelf
which I assume are for clipping the hoses up with.. so i clipped it all up
there and it seems to have stopped the fuel running out the breather but I
still get the strong smell of fuel in the car (makes me nervous as i am a
smoker hehe).
Is there sposed to be a one way valve in this system? I notice that
bluebirds and 200B's have a one way valve but should the 1600 have one?
There doesn't seem to be anything which is obviously a one way valve - just
a lot of plastic hose and a couple of metal 'u" bend type tubes
Does the standard system have the breather hose exiting next to the petrol
cap, or does it go up the 'C' pillar and into the roof? It sort of makes
sense to have it exit up as high as it can go.
Wouldn't mind some help with this one before i go thru scrutineering at
Pitsworth next weekend..
cheers
Mick
