Richard,
I did all my rallying in the beast around Canberra, South Coast NSW (Bega
Valley) and mid west NSW events.
Cheers

Errol,
That EH Rally car wasn't an ex silver top taxi and you weren't in CCRMIT
were you?
I remember competing in a number of memorable Autumn Midnight's and George
Derricks against the "taxi" around 1969/70. I believe it was booked a 130
MPH one night in small town near Castlemaine.
Were you around of any of these events?
Denzil,
I agree with what you say about the Hitachi's on your L20.
Question. What are half spindles? Are they the butterfly shafts, shaved to
improve airflow, with capscrews retaining the butterflys?
You can get your 1600 radiator recored. Basically the top and bottom tanks
are soldered on to a new core. This will be good for any L20 used on the
road.
If you want to really flog it, in summer heat, up mountains, you can get a
triple core fitted for about 40% more cooling capacity from the Samna sized
radiator. This core has three vertical rows of tubes instead of the
standard two.
Cost from a Natrad dealer is about $150 for the stock recore, $260 for the
triplecore. Expensive? not really as when you get a second hand on from
the
wrecker, you could be getting worse then you have now. You are guaranteed
to have no problems with the recore unit.
180B and 200B and 240K radiators all fit the engine but not the body.
Andy re 200B Coupe
Front struts, engine, 5 speed gearbox and 4.11 R160 diff will all fit (with
a shortened
tailshaft). Grab the steering box and upper steering column, this gear is
better than a 1600 and gives more functions on the stalk if you want them.
Power booster and all globes. If it has a three dial dash with a tacho,
big
bonus. The fuel tank can also be squeezed in with some fabricated mounts.
Hand brake and cables, speedo cable, bonnet release cable are all handy to
have for spares. If the rear shockers happen to be special i.e. gas, grab
them also. The rear trailing arms will bolt on to your rear crossmember if
you want to use the later brake drums. The rear springs will fit and could
be interesting as they will be stiffer than your originals.
If the seats are any good they are better than 1600 seats but need to be
adapted to fit.
