Nat,
600 watts is about normal I guess these days, that's 6x100 or 4x130 and a
couple of candles going in the outers. You would have to do some major
upgrade work from the alternator to the battery to get the desired voltage
from the alternator, if your voltage is low then the current wire might not
be up to the load. It's one to check as the stock charge line on the 510 is
rated at 35 amps. After the lights, Ign & pumps etc should get by on 30 amps
so I agree that 80 amps should give good and reliable service. The only
problem I've seen with big Bosch alternators with IR is that on dirt the IR
is prone to blowing. There used to be a shock resistant external reg that
was popular in my day.

Hi Terry,
Yes it is for a rally car, but I have a 60 Amp in
there now and when I turn on everything my Volts gauge
is around 11.5! This is my second Alt this year and I
have decided to say stuff it and buy a big one! I
have not counted all the amps that I need to get an
approx on what Alt I should be getting but an 80Amp
should be about correct. For my driving lights alone I
need 50 amps! And for everything else! Who knows?
Cheers NAT
