Robert,
I think you mean Starion as the Scorpion was a fancy Magna Coupe i.e. front
wheel drive 2.6, and the other smaller Mitsui turbo was a Cordia. The
Starion rear discs are a fairly simple conversion on a 510, but they've
always been way too expensive around here.
Gear lube isn't the preferred method for beefing up wet struts, I recommend
that you use motorcycle fork oil; it comes in grades from mild to wild and
wont be affected by heat like gear lube will.
I can't offer you any solution on the rest of your strut conversion but
others on the list should be able to pick up 120Y solutions for you.
regards
Terry

Subject: diffs; strut lowering
Hay dudes,
I know you guys over in Oz country have Mitsi Scorpions, myself
in NZ i wonder if these cars come under a different name.
Its because I'm after a diff out of one and also whether Mitsibishi have
used the same type of diff in another model of theirs.
I know Andrew Deniss has used one in his Datsun with success.
They must be strong and they come in good ratios with reasonably good disk
brakes - i want one!
The other issue is lowering the front of my car. I have a 120Y 4-door &
using Bluebird front struts. So far I have turned the strut tops down 1.5
inches and will be using Datsun 1200 top plates but this will still not be
enough. I can't take any more coils out of my springs because will run out
of travel and lose spring tension.
I'm using oil filled fillers at the moment filled with thicker oil (ie.
GearLube 70/90) and was thinking about modifying these, as i think it is
possible. Probably the other solution is to bush up and/or modify the top
plate. Any ideas anyone.
The rear was easy i just added another main leaf in and swithed it around
180 degrees so it was running forward to give it some anti tramping
properties. I will get a local firm to reset these so i don't have to use
lowering blocks. Now has five leaves making it very firm but still
functional. Didn't have to change the shocks, would have over cooked it
otherwise.
