chris,
my 1600 had a hit in the left hand front; one panel beater 
suggested doing only a quarter cut, the other a full half cut. they 
said if done by someone reputable, the result will be stronger than 
the original (but obviously this costs!) 
the guy suggesting the quarter cut said if i did all engine bay 
removal, unstitching of panels, and supply of parts, the work would 
be $1000-$1500. same deal with the other guy but with the half cut 
was more like $2000-$2500. spose these figures arent too bad 
considering the work required to straighten everything else, ensure 
new work is straight, painting etc, but i decided $2500 could be 
better invested in starting a car again.
