Nick,
It is safe to use spacers on the inner arm pivots! Most suspension
alignment places use spacers to adjust caster.
The Datrally lower arms are OK as well. The racer that tore an arm out
relied on a welded pivot for control arm location.
On the Stanza you do not rely on an externally pivoting arm.
Cheers n positive vibes

Errol et al.,
The plan for the front suspension of my Stanza was to use Bluebird struts
and brakes and 200b transverse arms which are significantly longer than the
stock Stanza arms, i.e give -ve camber.
I have discovered that the inner part of the transverse arms and bushes are
different widths, the Stanza ones are thicker than the 200b items.
I could use shims to pack the space between the bush and the crossmember,
probably just thin washers or something. This would give 'adjustable
castor', i.e if stock castor setting was with 5 shims in front and 5
behind, then you could increase castor by having (say) 2 shims in front and
8 behind, etc...
I would, of course, tighten the bolts up to spec. and add a locknut.
BUT is it SAFE?? I remember the pictures of that Datto 1600 racer that tore
an arm out....
As an alternative plan I have heard of Datrally adjustable lower control
arms - I think there is a pair for sale in the Ozdat classifieds, what are
they and would they fit a Stanza?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Nick
