Nick,
The process you described should work fine but ensure that you have
sufficient volume of oil to quench rapidly enough. You can do one side at
at a time, or take it to a heat treaters after heating and bending and get
them to take it up to temp and quench. Should be cheap.

Errol et al,
I would like to fit a B/Bird front roll-bar into my Stanza, however it is
about 20mm too wide.
The B/Bird bar is about 21mm in diameter, the 200b and Stanza ones are
about 19mm.
Can the bar arms be bent (inwards) and still retain their heat-treating,
e.g heat up with carburising flame, bend, then oil quench ?
Any tips, or should I just 'bin' it?
