I agree that it isnt only early dattos my 71 has had it happen several 
times, i now have hood pins.  The hood pins give u a false sense of security 
though as i found out one day, i was so keen to take her for a test drive 
after puttin in a 5 speed i forgot to check them, 150meters from home change 
into second wham! oh *$#^ where did the road go hehehe.  So just remember 
two forms of atachment is best ie OE latch and pins and always check they 
are in place b4 u go for that test drive.......Tod.
