Sorry, but you do need a gearbox!
The Z18 sits on an angle (8 degrees from memory) and thus the gear selector will point towards the passenger.
I have seen a Z18 in a 1600 with an L-series box, but the owner had angled the engine instaed. it looked hideous. 1/2 the strut tower was sledge hammered to clear the inlet manifold!

Subject: NEEDED Z-18et COMPUTER AND WIRING HARNESS

List,

I've found a Z-18et for a really good price without the box or the computer and harness.  Everything else is there.  I already have a few L series boxes at home so I don't need a gearbox but I do need a HARNESS and COMPUTER.  If any of you guys who have put aftermarket computer on your zeds have one lying around and are willing to sell it, could you write back.

I JUST DON'T WANT TO LET THIS ONE SLIP THROUGH MY FINGERS, BUT I'LL HAVE TO IF I CAN'T GET A COMPUTER AND HARNESS

Thanks
