Looks a nice body and definitely a well built installation. (The car, not
Imogen). Not a lot of real info on performance though. Noticeable that FF
didn't need an partially clothed tart hanging over the body to make a good
Datto story look readable. Datto's must be a "blokey" kind of car - unlike
the Mazda, R Baby, and the Rex in the same edition.
I would love to know how he got it engineered with those brakes, they look
puny discs and stock drums on the rear. I cant believe the fronts are
"Skyline" - maybe the 240K type early Skyline. Or is it the big rims?
The droopy back end looks a bit daggy too. It desperately needs the camber
fix on the rear crossmember pickup points, but I bet you couldn't squeeze
those rims under the rear guards if the rear wheels stood up properly.
Those simpler tail lights were on all the early imported 1600's. Also
identified by the crossover style wiper arms, smaller front
indicator/parking lights and the "non arrow shaped" front guard indicators.
The strip speedo is also a giveaway, as is the front door trim and hardware.
67/9 imports are much better assembled bodies and have superior panel
protection than the later Aussi built units.
Overall a good package I suspect, hard to find a better example, but alcohol
fuel for a street car? I dont think so!
