andy,
pull your gear leaver out and check if the bottom part where it v's down to
the end isn't bent. i had the same prob with my z-18 box it always crunched
in reverse, so i checked the lever and it was bent on the bottom . changed
the lever and it fixed the problem.
could be worth a shot.
