Andrew,
Above 8000 the biggest problem is with lash pads popping out. If you shave
the back of the head to compensate for regrind cams or fit billet cams the
enine is best only run to 8000. I have seen one that would pull 8400 but
regularly threw lash pads and had the occasional blow up.
My L14/1600 used new deep lash pad retainers and had a tack of TIG weld to
act as a lash pad retainer. This was regularly run to 9000.
With good light components (titanium retainers valves etc) who knows????

What would be the max usable rpm.Just curious.L20 with say ported
